More Antimicrobial Protection For DDC Incomatic Incontinence Product Macerators

World-class infection-prevention specialist DDC has added more antimicrobial protection to its newly revamped Incomatic incontinence product macerators.

Incomatic previously had antimicrobial protection in just the lid. Now it has been extended to the new front panel and decals as well.

The antimicrobial protection comes from Biomaster, a global leader in the use of silver-ion technology to combat infections.

Biomaster antimicrobial protection is moulded into the plastic used in Incomatic. The silver ions disrupt the DNA of bacteria, stopping them from growing or replicating – so they die. Silver ions can also combat the spread of viruses such as Norovirus and COVID-19.

Incomatic features complete hands-free operation for added infection prevention and control. Now this has been updated by replacing the foot cup with a new sensor for even easier cleaning.

Robust, reliable and compact Incomatic enables hospitals and care homes to dispose of incontinence pads and nappies hygienically, quickly and efficiently. This gives staff more time to care for patients and residents.

The macerator shreds incontinence pads and nappies into fine particles and flushes them into the sewerage system in a two-minute cycle.

DDC Marketing and HR Director Zoe Allen said: “This rapid maceration process dramatically reduces the potential risk of infection.

“Post-maceration disinfection is also available as an option,” she added.

Flexible capacity means Incomatic can dispose of one large or two small maceratable nappies or pads per cycle.

Continuous free flowing output of waste ensures there is no build-up of shredded products on the sides of the pipes, and no blockages. Pre- and post-maceration self-cleaning flushes further assist in this respect.

Automatic drain flush can be programmed in times of low use to limit the build-up of stagnant water and remove the possibility of Legionnaires’ Disease.

Various start options – ranging from self-start to auto-start – are available to suit each facility's requirements.

Audio annunciation provides helpful guidance in any language. This cuts training costs and reduces the possibility of operator errors.

Incomatic is the latest DDC sluice room machine to have been updated. In recent months, the Dorset company has unveiled new versions of four of its bedpan washer disinfectors:

  • New Midi – the protected touch area is 2.5 times larger than on the previous model. The lid and front panel now have antimicrobial protection. Previously it was just in the lid.
  • New Maxi – now with antimicrobial protection (front panel and decals).
  • New Optima 2 – antimicrobial protection is now in the front panel and lid, making the protected area 2.5 times bigger. Previously this protection was just in the lid.
  • New Optima 3 – now with antimicrobial protection (front panel and decals).
