DDC Launches Three Advanced New Infection-Control Products
Arab Health, Dubai World Trade Centre
Booth D10 Hall 2: 27-30 January 2025
World-class infection-prevention specialist DDC has launched three advanced new products to help safeguard hospitals and care homes.
This innovative technology offers patients, residents and clinicians greater protection from viruses, bacteria and other dangerous microorganisms:
- Pulpmatic Flex is an energy-saving medical pulp macerator that features different cycle options to reduce running costs – helping hospitals and care homes to cut carbon emissions.
- UVMATIC® MultiTower uses multiple UVC lights to disinfect rooms. With UVC lamps in the main unit and four detachable satellites, it offers better protection in more challenging healthcare environments such as ambulances.
- UVMATIC® AirSafe Steriliser is a multi-stage air purifier that uses UVC light and titanium dioxide to kill microbes and destroy additional pathogens. An activated carbon filter absorbs odours and pollutants. A Hepa 14 filter captures particles as small as 0.16 microns (0.00016mm).
Pulpmatic Flex combines DDC’s proven macerator technology with four new cycle modes. The most economical is Lite for one or two pots. It lasts just 70 seconds and uses 13.5 litres of water.
Like other DDC macerators, Flex features hand-free operation. The sonic foot sensor has two modes: standard and auto start. In superseding older foot cup technology, it makes the machine quicker and easier to clean.
Antimicrobial surfaces on the top and front panel further protect users. The cabinet is manufactured from 304L stainless steel, offering high levels of corrosion resistance. An intuitive 5” screen enables easy cycle selection/options, chemical options, and maintenance. Auto drain flush helps to ensure reliability.
UVMATIC® MultiTower is Log 4/99.99% effective against viruses, spores and yeasts and Log 5/99.999% effective against bacteria. Its UVC lamps in the main unit and four satellites provide 360° exposure. They can be positioned vertically, horizontally or at an angle. The cable length on the main unit and on each satellite is five metres.
UVC light is emitted from just 10cm above floor level. The main unit also has a downward UVC lamp to ensure the floor beneath receives sufficient UVC dosage during each disinfection cycle. The main unit’s UVC light has an effective radius of five metres with documented efficacy from the floor up to 265cm. Each satellite has a two-metre irradiation radius for disinfecting areas not covered by the main unit.
Once the cycle is complete, the detachable satellites can be easily reattached to the main tower.
This easy-to-use UVC technology has been tested and validated by leading global microbiologists in the UK and EU, with pathogen-efficacy testing to BS8628:2022.
UVMATIC® MultiTower is equipped with sensors to stop operation if someone enters the room. There is also an emergency stop button for added safety.
UVMATIC® AirSafe Steriliser works by drawing air into a cartridge via the base of the unit. This air is then exposed to purifying UVC light.
UVC light is also radiated on to fibres coated in titanium dioxide, causing a photocatalytic reaction. Strong oxidising hydroxyl radicals are formed, destroying the cell walls of microbes present.
Air then passes through an activated carbon filter that absorbs odours and other particulate pollutants. Finally, air is pushed through a Hepa 14 filter which captures particles as small as 0.16 microns, including bacteria and viruses.
DDC Marketing and HR Director Zoe Allen said: “Each of these three products represents a significant step forward in their respective infection-prevention technologies.
“Individually or collectively, they give hospitals and care homes powerful new ways to prevent and control healthcare-associated infections,” she added.
